Abstract: »Objectives: To describe the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of cases of repeat rape in the Brazilian population; and to analyze the factors associated with the repetition of rape. Methods: Cross-sectional study with open data on rape in Brazil, extracted from the Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação. The country's microdata for the five-year period of 2018-2022 were extracted using TabWin. In the data processing, rape cases were selected and used as the dependent variable whether the violence was repeated or not. The analysis of associated factors was estimated by binary logistic regression through the method of Generalized Linear Models. Multivariate models were compared using the Bayesian information criterion. Crude and adjusted Odds Ratios (OR) and their 95% confidence intervals were presented. Results: The final population was 172,419 rape cases in Brazil. The prevalence of the event was among adolescents, residents in the North, and by an unknown or known aggressor. Factors that increase the chances of rape repetition are: children (Odds Ratio - OR = 2.5), adolescents (OR = 1.74), and adults (OR = 1.25), male gender (OR = 1.08), elementary education (OR = 1.46), residents of the North (OR = 1.24), having a disability (OR = 1.61), presence of threat (OR = 1.65), aggressor spouse (OR = 5.3), ex-spouse (OR = 3.6), stepfathers (OR = 2.8), caregivers (OR = 2.9), and parents (OR = 2.4). Conclusion: Multiple predictors explained the repetition of rape, including child victim, adolescent, residing in the North, aggressor being the spouse or ex-spouse« (Source: Revista Caderno Pedogógico)
